Browser-only Pixel tracking loses conversions to ad blockers and iOS privacy restrictions — pairing it with server-side Conversions API is what actually closes the gap.
The Meta Pixel, installed alone, only sees what happens in a user's browser — which means ad blockers and iOS App Tracking Transparency restrictions can suppress it without any visible error. The ad account still reports numbers; they're just quietly incomplete.
Running both Pixel and CAPI without deduplication means the same real-world conversion can get counted twice — once from the browser, once from the server. A shared event ID between the two lets Meta recognize they're the same event and count it once, which is what makes running both together safe instead of just noisy.
