Screen Search
No data collected. Everything stays on your device.
In short
Screen Search does not collect any data. Screenshot scanning and text extraction happen entirely on your device using Google's on-device ML Kit OCR. We do not operate servers that receive your screenshots or extracted text, we do not use analytics or crash reporting, and we do not share data with anyone.
Screen Search ("the app") is an Android utility that helps you search screenshots stored on your device by extracting text from images using on-device OCR technology. It is published by Archiom ("we", "us", "our").
This policy explains how the app treats your information. It applies to the version of Screen Search installed on your device and to your use of that app.
None.
The app does not transmit screenshots, extracted text, personal data, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, crash reports, location, or any other information off your device to us or to any third party at our direction. We do not run servers that receive your data, because the app does not send any.
To provide its core functionality, Screen Search requests permission to access images stored on your device:
These permissions are used only to scan screenshots saved on your device. The app does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, messages, or any other permission-gated resource.
You may revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings — though the app cannot scan or display screenshots without it.
When permission is granted, the app reads:
These values never leave your device. They are read, indexed locally, and used to power your search queries inside the app.
Screen Search uses a local Room database to remember the search index between app launches. This data lives only on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
None of this is transmitted off your device at our direction.
Android automatically backs up most app settings to your Google account unless an app explicitly opts out. Screen Search does not opt out. That means the index and configuration values listed in section 5 are eligible for Google's standard Android Backup service, and may be restored if you set up a new device from your Google backup. Screenshot images themselves are managed by your device's media store, not by this app.
This behavior is managed by Android and Google, not by us. The data is handled according to Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). To disable Android Backup, see your device's Settings > System > Backup.
Screen Search uses one third-party component:
Google ML Kit OCR. Google's on-device text-recognition library. All recognition happens on your device — Google ML Kit OCR does not send screenshot images or extracted text to Google's servers. Your use of this component is also subject to Google's applicable terms and policies.
We do NOT use any of the following:
The app's core screenshot scanning, OCR, and search features are designed to work entirely on your device and do not require an internet connection. If future features require internet access, this policy will be updated.
Because we do not collect or store your data on our systems, there is no "account" to access, export, or delete. Your local data and permissions remain under your control:
Screen Search is a general-audience utility suitable for all ages. Because the app does not collect any data from anyone, it does not collect data from children. The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in your region), and no age gate is required.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and ship the revised text in the next app update. The policy bundled with the installed app reflects the version that applies to your use of that build. For a historical copy, see the app update release notes on the Google Play Store.
